The May 2026 release for Forsta Visualizations introduces several enhancements to StoryTeller that improve chart customization, benchmark analysis, and Top/Bottom/Range filtering workflows. These updates provide greater flexibility when configuring visualizations and make it easier to compare and prioritize data across advanced reporting scenarios.
StoryTeller
Different line styles for individual series within a chart
StoryTeller now supports configuring line styles at the series level within a chart object. This enhancement allows you to apply different line formatting to individual series in the same chart.
Examples:
One series can use a solid line
Another series can use a dotted line
Individual series can include markers while others do not
The existing line settings now include an option to define whether styling applies to the full chart object or only to a selected series. This update gives report designers more control when highlighting trends, comparisons, or key data points within complex visualizations.
Improvements to Benchmark between series
Benchmarking between separate series has been enhanced to support sorting when using the Show only benchmark option. Previously, sorting benchmark results was only supported when benchmarks were configured directly within the same series. This limitation made it more difficult to rank or compare results when using multiple series with different filters or time periods.
Sorting is now supported for benchmarks created between separate series with this release.
This improvement is especially useful for reporting scenarios such as:
Comparing the last month against the last year
Benchmarking filtered audience groups
Ranking results across multiple time-based series
These enhancements make advanced benchmark reporting more flexible and easier to interpret.
Improvements to “Show Top/Bottom/Range”
The Show Top/Bottom/Range functionality has been expanded to provide more control over how selections interact with benchmark calculations.
You can now choose whether Top/Bottom/Range filtering is applied:
Before benchmark calculations
After benchmark calculations
This option is now available for all benchmark series, including benchmarks created between separate series. This enhancement supports more advanced reporting needs. For example, when comparing the last month against the last year, you may want to display only the highest benchmark results after calculations are complete.
Behavior now differs based on the selected processing order:
If filtering is applied before benchmark calculations, results follow the sorting from the main table
If filtering is applied after benchmark calculations, results follow the benchmark sorting order
This update gives report designers greater flexibility when prioritizing and displaying benchmark-driven insights
