1: Using Question Blocks
Once you have created question blocks in admin mode and enabled them in the setup menu, you have the option to filter content in StoryCreator using those question blocks. This is a useful way to focus your data selection. The question block selection list appears directly above the question list. You can select one or more blocks at a time.
In the example below, the Priorities block is selected, so only the list of questions in that question block appear in the question list:
2: Using Variable Subsets
If your StoryCreator includes variable subsets, these appear to the left of the question and answer selection lists. Variable subsets limit what appears in those lists, and users only see subsets they have permission to access.
If there is only one variable subset available to the user or in the StoryCreator, the selector is hidden. However, that subset is still applied to filter the content in the question and answer lists.
When one or more Variable Subsets are selected, only the questions and answers applicable to those Variable Subsets will be visible in the lists.
The image below shows a StoryCreator with the variable subset selection list visible.
Note: Variable subsets do not filter the content in the Filter tab. To control filter access by user, go to the project settings page and assign the appropriate access rights under "access to filters."
3: Tips for Navigating the Panel
You can resize the panel using the drag handles. For example, you can make the panel taller to view more questions or answers without scrolling or make the answer box wider to see longer responses more clearly.
In this example, the panel is taller, and the answer box is wider than the default view.
4: Displaying Question and Answer Codes
If you know the question and answer codes from the questionnaire, you can choose to display them in the selection lists by selecting the Show code option. This can make it easier to find specific items.
Below is an example where question and answer codes are displayed in the lists.
Tip: Use the search fields above the question and answer lists to quickly find specific items.
