You can choose how to visualize your data by selecting a chart type. Chart types are grouped into the following main categories:
Bar
Line
Spline
Area
Pie
Each category includes multiple charts of that type.
1: Bar Charts
Use bar charts to compare values across categories and/or over time.
Bar charts include:
Bar
Stacked bar
Full stacked bar
Column
Stacked column
Full stacked column
2: Line Charts
Use line charts when you want to display trends over time or sequential relationships.
Line charts include:
Line
Stacked line
Full stacked line
Additional variants, including horizontal and radar-style lines
3: Spline Charts
Spline charts are similar to line charts but use smoothed curves. These are helpful when you want a visual with smoother transitions between data points.

4: Area Charts
Area charts emphasize the volume between axes and lines.

5: Pie Charts
These charts display the part-to-whole relationships for a single series.

6: Smart Chart Type Recommendations
If the StoryCreator report has Apply "Chart type recommendation logic" selected in the Settings, then each chart is marked with an icon:
A green thumbs-up for recommended chart types
A red thumbs-down for less suitable ones
The recommendation logic considers:
Selected calculation type
Number of questions and answers
Number of filter comparison series
Time interval settings
For example:
Full stacked, pie, and donut charts are not recommended for calculations other than count or percentage share.
Horizontal line charts are not recommended when no time interval is present.
6.1: Notes on Smart Recommendations
Recommendations are suggestions, not strict rules. There are always exceptions that smart logic may not account for.
Whether this feature is active depends on the administrator's configuration of StoryCreator during setup.
