- Use the thumbnails to select whether the mean series should be added to the axis or legend. Only available options will be shown.
- Choose whether to consider base sizes in the calculation.
- Decide whether to hide the original series or show them alongside the mean.
- Select the position of the mean series (first or last in the order).
- Enter a label for the mean series (default label is "Mean").
- If the series is added to the legend, select a color for it.
3: Examples
3.1: Basic Mean Value Series
This example shows a basic mean value series added to the chart. The bar at the bottom displays the mean result across all brands shown.
3.2: Mean With and Without Base Size Consideration
Both charts below display the same three attributes, each with different base sizes.
In the left chart, base sizes are not considered—the mean is a simple average of the values.
In the right chart, base sizes are considered. Attributes with more respondents influence the mean result more than those with fewer respondents.
3.3: Mean Series in Axis vs. Legend
In the chart on the left, the mean value series is added to the axis, showing the mean of all attributes for Man and Woman.
In the chart on the right, the mean value series is added to the legend, showing the mean of Man and Woman for each attribute.
3.4: Showing vs. Hiding Original Series
In the left chart, the mean value series is displayed alongside the original data series.
In the right chart, only the mean value series is shown.
