This article shows you how to set a default deck to load automatically, save or open existing decks, and export reports to different formats. If you have My Stories, you can also save and reuse your StoryCreator slides there.
1: Load a Default Deck When Entering
You can choose a deck to open by default each time you enter StoryCreator.
The options appear in:
Deck panel
Save as panel
1.1: Setting a default deck:
1. Open the Deck panel.
2. Select an existing deck or create a new one by clicking Save as.
3. Enable the checkbox or option labeled Open this deck by default on page load
Note: The specified deck will load right away once StoryCreator is reopened.
2. Saving a Deck
Use the Save as option to store your report setup as a deck.
1. Access the Deck panel and click Save as.
2. Provide a name for your new deck and an description. (optional)
3. Check Load this deck by default if you want this deck to auto-load. (Optional)
4. Click Save.
Note: If you’re already working in a saved deck and have made changes, click Save (rather than Save as) to update your current deck under its existing name.
3. Open a Saved Deck
To open an existing deck:
1. Select the Deck panel.
2. Select Open.
3. Choose from one of your saved decks in the popup.
4. Click the deck name to load it.
4. Delete a Deck
To remove a deck you no longer need:
1. Select the Deck panel.
2. Click Decks (the first option).
3. Hover over the deck you want to delete.
4. Click the Delete icon or button that appears.
5. Click the Deck option to open an overview of all your decks.
5. Export a Deck
You can export the currently open deck to PPT, PDF, or Excel:
1. Go to the Deck panel and click Export.
2. In the Export popup, choose the format you want to generate.
3 Click Generate and the process will run in the background.
4. When the export finishes, click the notification that appears or return to the Export panel to download your file.
When exporting to PPTX / PowerPoint, charts and tables can be exported either as images (static) or as native/ editable PowerPoint objects, depending on the export format setting.
The editable-object option lets you change chart types, edit/add/remove data series, modify axes and legends, etc.
Not all chart types or configurations are supported for editable export—in unsupported cases, objects will be exported as images.
There may be slight layout/fidelity differences between the view online and the exported PPTX (e.g. legend size, bar/column widths, text wrapping, axis label rotation).
Administrators need to enable editable export in the setup/configuration panel; by default the image/static export is used.
PDF export reproduces the current view exactly as shown online.
Excel export includes only tables (no charts).
PDF exports the current view exactly as seen in StoryCreator. Excel exports tables only (no charts).
A notification message will appear when the report is generated successfully and ready for download. Once completed, click the message to download the file or download the file from the Export panel.
6. Save Slides to My Stories
If your project includes My Stories, you can save slides from StoryCreator in the same way you save slides from StoryTeller:
1. Click My Stories in the Deck panel.
2. Choose an existing story or create a new one in the My Stories panel.
3. Save your current slide to include it in that story.
You can combine slides from StoryCreator and StoryTeller into the same my story deck.
