Variable types
Creating a computed variable you have several variable types to choose from. The different types are listed in the table below with information on when they can be used. Depending on what variable type is being created there are different operators and functions available that will help you to combine and adapt the data of the existing variables. The variable types are described in detail here. In the table you can see which operators you can use and it's definitely possible to combine various operators and functions in the same expression as long as they are compatible with the variable type you are about to create.
Note: if a computed single choice question contains overlapping expressions (answers), the data will be inserted in multiple answers in Forsta Visualizations. Forsta Visualizations respondent tables, forms and raw export to Excel will show these answers separated by a comma. The export of the raw data to SPSS is showing only the last answer (as SPSS cannot have multiple response data in a single response question/variable).
