1: Enabling Date and Date Text Columns
The first step is to enable the "date" and "date text" columns.
1. On the Questions page, click the Columns icon.
2. Tick the Date and Date Text checkboxes.
Two new columns will appear on the Questions Page: "Date" and "Date Text".

2: Specifying a Date Variable as a Response Date Variable
It is possible to set any existing variable of the "Date" type to be a Response date variable.
Within the Date column:
Click the
icon to unspecify the variable as a Response date variable. The

icon signifies that the variable cannot be specified as a Response date variable as it is not a date type.
2.1: Example
In Figure 2 below:
The variable "Service date" " is specified as a Response date variable
The variable "Car pick up date" is not specified as a Response date variable.
The remaining variables cannot be specified as Response date variables as they are not date types.

2.2: Date Text Column
The date text column is where you can write a label to define the date column. This label is what you will see when working with the date variable in other parts of Visualizations, such as calculations and applying analysis. To edit the date text, the variable must be specified as a Response date variable (with a icon). If the variable is not specified as a Response date variable, the date text column will be hidden.
To do edit the date text:
1. Click the Response date variable you want to edit text for.
2. Click inside the date text column.
3. Type the date text.
4. Press the Enter key.
3: Changing the Default Date Variable
It is possible to change the default date variable for your project.
To change the default date variable:
1. Right-click the date variable you wish to set as default.
2. Click Set date as default.
