Hierarchical filters can be based on normal variables, computed variables or input variables. However, when those variables are updated the hierarchical filter is not updated automatically. So take this in consideration when building your filter:
If a computed variablee is used in the hierarchical filter and you change the computed variable, the data needs to be reactivated or the hierarchical filter needs to be updated manually.
If an input variable is used in the hierarchical filter, the respondents will be included in the filter nodes of the input variable the next time data is activated. The respondents will not be included in the hierarchical filter when the input variable is changed in the Form directly as the hierarchical filter is not updated when the Form is saved.
